Professor Emeritus in the Department of Pediatrics and Scholar at the Center for Health Education Scholarship in the  Faculty of Medicine, University of British Columbia (UBC). After obtaining a medical degree from the University of Buenos Aires, Argentina, he completed training in Pediatrics and Neonatology at the University of Manitoba.

Dr. Casiró has held positions of leadership and progressive responsibility in the field of medical education, including that of President of the Medical Council of Canada; and Founding Regional Associate Dean of the Vancouver Island Medical Program (UBC and the University of Victoria). He is currently Regional Director for Latin America at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, to promote academic alliances in order to improve postgraduate medical education in the region.
