El programa de Medicina Paliativa y Cuidados Continuos UC desarrolla proyectos de investigación en forma activa con el fin de identificar estrategias para mejorar el control de síntomas y la calidad de vida de los pacientes con enfermedades terminales y sus familias. Buscamos mejorar la calidad del conocimiento en esta área de escaso desarrollo en Chile, y que esté adaptado a las necesidades y realidades culturales locales. En nuestros protocolos han participado y participan pacientes y familiares tanto de la Red de Salud UC – Christus, como de la Unidad de Cuidados Paliativos del Complejo Asistencial Dr. Sótero del Rio, del Servicio de Salud Metropolitano Sur Oriente. En la realización de dichos protocolos, nuestro equipo cumple con los estándares de calidad y requisitos solicitados por los Comité de Ética de ambas instituciones.
